Real classes at the Kinson Community Centre
Our home is the Kinson Community Centre in Bournemouth — it's where we've offered community IT support for years, and it's where our group computer classes take place. Real people, in a real room, learning together. No rush, no jargon, and nobody made to feel daft.
Classes run regularly, and we keep things relaxed and unhurried: you practise the everyday things you actually want to do, and you can ask the same question as many times as you need. One-to-one · Your pace
Patient 1-to-1 tuition — at the centre, at home or over the internet
If a group isn't your thing, or you'd like extra help with something specific, we offer patient one-to-one tuition — arranged on request, around what suits you:
- At the Kinson Community Centre — quiet, familiar and easy to get to.
- In your own home — across Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch and Dorset, on your own computer at your own kitchen table. We always call with an ETA before we set off.
- Over the internet — we phone you first, you watch everything happening on your screen, and our access ends the moment the session does. Never a cold pop-up, ever.
You'll see the same familiar faces every time — we're a family-run firm, not a call centre — so your tutor remembers you, your machine and exactly where you left off.
What you'll learn
The basics, in plain English — no jargon
We teach the things that make everyday life easier, one step at a time:
- Sending and organising email with confidence
- Saving, finding and sharing your photos
- Video calls with the grandchildren
- Shopping and banking online safely, without the worry
- Spotting scams — dodgy emails, fake texts and suspicious phone calls
- Getting comfortable with your smartphone or tablet
One honest note: we're specialists in Windows computers and Android phones and tablets. If you use an Apple iPad or iPhone we'll gladly point you towards help, but we won't pretend Apple is our strength — you deserve a teacher who genuinely knows your device inside out.
Between lessons, our free online safety course lets you keep learning at home at your own pace — and our spot-the-scam quiz is a gentle way to practise spotting the fakes. And if reading a screen is a strain, this website has an accessibility toolbar with bigger text, higher contrast and read-aloud built in.

Some honest advice first: free computer sessions do exist locally — libraries, Age UK and community groups all run them, and they can be a lovely place to start. We're the right fit when you want patient, unhurried, expert help — a family firm that's been looking after computers since 1995, the same faces who stick with you week after week, and somewhere to ask the "silly" questions. (There are none.)

I've never used a computer before. Will I be able to keep up?
Yes — complete beginners are exactly who our lessons are for. We go at your pace, not anyone else's, and you can ask the same question as many times as you like. There's no such thing as a silly question here — honestly.
How much do the lessons cost, and when are the classes?
Classes at the Kinson Community Centre run regularly — call us on 01202 775566 and we'll give you the current timetable and prices, with no pressure at all. One-to-one tuition is arranged on request around what suits you, and we'll agree everything up front before you commit to anything.
Do I need to bring my own laptop, tablet or phone?
If you have one, please do — you'll learn fastest on the machine you actually use at home. If you don't have one yet, come anyway: we'll give you honest, jargon-free advice on what to buy (and what not to), with no pushy selling.
Can you teach me to use my iPad or iPhone?
We'll be honest: we're Windows and Android specialists, so Apple devices aren't our strength and we won't pretend otherwise. If you use a Windows laptop or desktop, or an Android phone or tablet, you're in exactly the right place. For Apple help, we'll gladly point you in the right direction.
Can I arrange lessons for my mum or dad?
Of course — give us a call, tell us a little about them and what they'd like to learn, and we'll take it gently from there. A family member can also set up and pay for our £18.25-a-month home support plan on a relative's behalf, so help is on hand between lessons.
What happens if I get stuck between lessons?
You're never on your own. Our home IT support plan is £18.25 a month per computer — rolling monthly, cancel anytime — and most problems are fixed remotely in minutes. We always phone you first before connecting, you watch everything on your screen, and our access ends when the session ends. Hours are Mon–Fri, 9am–5pm.
