Get advice →/ WHEN TO UNPLUG
When to disconnect from the internet
Two moments when pulling the plug helps: if ransomware has locked your files (it stops it spreading), or if a ‘tech support’ scammer is controlling your screen right now. Turn off Wi-Fi or unplug the cable, then call us.
Otherwise, leave things as they are — and never pay a ransom or a ‘fee’ to get money back.
- Ransomware / files locked — disconnect
- Someone’s remotely controlling your screen — disconnect
- Lost money — call your bank on 159
- Otherwise, leave it and call us
