Are these tools really free?
Yes — every tool here is completely free to use, with no sign-up, no account and no catch. They’re our way of being genuinely useful; when you’d rather a friendly techie just sorted the problem for you, that’s what our monthly plans are for.
Do I need to download or install anything?
No — every tool on this page runs entirely in your web browser, so there’s nothing to update and nothing that can slow your computer down. The exceptions are our two free Windows programs on this page, 365 PC Manager (a PC health check) and Techies PDF (fill in, sign, join and shrink PDFs): both are free and digitally signed, install in a couple of clicks and uninstall just as easily.
Do my passwords, files or data leave my browser?
No. The privacy-sensitive tools — the password checks, the hardware and spec checkers and the benchmarks — run on your own device and don’t send your data to us. Where a tool needs a live lookup (like the website or broadband checks) it only sends the address or URL you type, never personal data.
What can I check with these free tools?
Plenty: test your website’s speed and security, run a live broadband speed test, see if your password has leaked, benchmark your PC and graphics card, check what’s inside your computer, make a Wi-Fi QR code, check whether a link is a scam, look up DNS and SSL records, and more — all free, all in your browser.
Do the tools work on phones and Macs?
Yes — anything with a modern browser. A few are tuned with Windows PCs in mind (we’re Windows and Android specialists), but they run on phones, tablets and Macs too.
