/01 — LOCAL & FRIENDLY

Your local Bournemouth techies

From the town centre and Boscombe to Winton, Charminster and Southbourne, we look after home users, families, sole traders and small businesses right across Bournemouth. We have plenty of experience supporting the town’s hospitality, tourism and professional-services firms, keeping computers, email, Wi-Fi, Microsoft 365 and security working all year round.

As your local IT company, we cover it all. IT support and business IT services, computer and laptop repairs, Microsoft 365, cybersecurity and practical IT solutions for Bournemouth homes and businesses.

Most problems are solved remotely in minutes — and when you need someone in person, we’re close by. Local knowledge, no call-centres, no jargon.

Just need a one-off fix rather than a plan? See our computer & laptop repair in Bournemouth — home visits, fast remote help and no call-out fee.

Running a business in Bournemouth? See our dedicated business IT support plans — fully managed IT, Microsoft 365, cybersecurity and support for one monthly cost per computer.

Not looking for IT help today? We also run Bournemouth365 — live measured sea conditions from the bay’s buoy and the tide gauge on the pier, the Friday fireworks answered honestly, and the best sunrise and sunset spots, photographed by us. Free, no ads, and the same people behind it.

// LOCAL TRACK RECORD

We have worked in this town for three decades, not from a call centre

From 1998 to 2008 we built and ran the Dorset Microsoft Education Resource Centre in Winton — a training centre on our own computer network. From 2008 to 2017 we ran a computer sales, service and support centre in Moordown, and today we are at the Kinson Community Centre. Some of the customers we picked up in Winton are still with us.

We have also provided the IT sales, servicing and support for Vivid Websites, the Bournemouth web agency behind sites for Bournemouth & Poole College and Upton Country Park, since 2010.

// MOBILE SIGNAL · BOURNEMOUTH

What mobile signal people actually get in Bournemouth

Ofcom’s coverage checker is a prediction. These are measurements — taken on local people’s phones in the street with our free ten-second signal test, kept as ~500 m squares so nothing points at a home.

Bournemouth has 60 verified squares — the three fastest and three slowest — each the median of people’s own phones (8 or more inland, 5 or more on the seafront’s finer ~140 m squares), indoor and outdoor together, all networks pooled:

  • Ensbury Park: 205.4 Mbps median download from 9 readings
  • Bear Cross: 199.1 Mbps median download from 9 readings
  • West Howe: 161.7 Mbps median download from 18 readings
  • Talbot Woods: 5.4 Mbps median download from 8 readings
  • West Cliff: 4.8 Mbps median download from 42 readings
  • Lansdowne: 2.2 Mbps median download from 5 readings (a ~140 m seafront square)

Another 90 squares are still filling in — the nearest to verified is at 7 of 8 readings.

Our own campervan has measured 11 places in Bournemouth — one instrument, one network, the same way every time: Iford 98.2 Mbps (40 tests), Moordown 35.9 Mbps (299 tests), Townsend 31.5 Mbps (21 tests). Ranked on the van signal map.

Strong outside but slow indoors? That is usually the building, not the mast — thick walls, foil-backed insulation, a phone three rooms from anything. Our free room-by-room WiFi survey shows which it is, and why WiFi keeps dropping explains the usual fixes.

// FREE WITH EVERY PLAN · UPDATES ITSELF

365 PC Manager, on your PC

Our own free Windows app — digitally signed in our name — shows your PC’s health in plain English: drive condition, memory, protection, backup, Windows updates, risky programs and network settings, and an honest verdict. Anyone can use it, and we think every Windows PC should have it. On a plan it does more: it keeps your computer up to date and secure.

At every service we run a real broadband speed test from your machine and keep it with your record. Next visit, we can see whether your line has quietly got worse. No other local IT firm we can find will even show you your broadband speed — let alone track it visit to visit.

On a plan, every six-weekly service updates every program on the computer, not just Windows and Office — an out-of-date program is the back door criminals now hunt for with AI — checks your network’s safety, and ends with a written Service Report: what we did, how the machine scored, and anything worth planning. It is emailed to you, saved in your portal and left on your Desktop. And we keep an eye on the machines we look after between visits, so problems get caught before they bite. We can’t find another IT support company in Dorset that gives its customers an app of its own.

365 PC Manager on a laptop: the new menu, the health score and what to do next
  • Free forever, no sign-up, uninstall any time
  • Every program kept up to date, not just Windows
  • Your network’s safety checked at every service
  • Broadband speed measured at every visit
  • Every written Service Report in one place
  • Your next visit — move or cancel it yourself
  • Optional: let us run safe maintenance remotely
  • No fake errors, no scare tactics, ever
