No stock photos — this is the live feed from our 365 Crafter, the van that runs our IT support business entirely on Victron solar and battery power. The dashboard itself is completely custom — designed and built in-house on Victron’s VRM data, and it shows something the standard portal doesn’t: live, pound for pound, what this power would be costing us on grid electricity. How this solar forecast works
Savings estimated at 48p per kWh of solar generated, plus 60p/day saved on the standing charge you’d pay just for a grid connection. Rates include VAT.
What you’re looking at: a one-off dashboard we designed and built ourselves on top of Victron’s VRM data — as far as we know, a first for a Victron off-grid system. Beyond the standard VRM portal we’ve added a live grid-savings comparison (every solar watt valued at what the same power would cost on grid electricity), the running cost of whatever’s switched on right now, the battery valued as money in the bank, a battery passport, engine-charging economics and a 30-day money history. It’s a working example of how we use Victron to power our IT support business off-grid — and we design and build custom VRM dashboards like it for customers worldwide.

The Victron dashboard above reads the van’s power. Home Assistant reads everything — the same Cerbo GX over local MQTT, plus the 4G/5G router, internet speed tests, GPS and more — and it doesn’t just watch: it acts, cutting heavy loads before the battery hurts and speed-testing the mobile network as the van drives. It acts, not just watches
Victron data driving non-Victron kit: when the battery drops below a threshold, Home Assistant cuts the projector — the biggest discretionary load in the van. VRM can see the battery; it can’t reach the projector. Home Assistant does both.

Every sensor, one brain
Solar and batteries next to 4G/5G signal, real speed tests, ping and GPS — one system sees it all, which is how the van maps the best places to park and work automatically as it drives.

No internet? Still works
The Victron link is local MQTT on the van’s own network — in a field with zero signal, monitoring and automations carry on. Cloud dashboards can’t say that.
