What the video says

This is Spider Solitaire, from 365 Techies. It’s free, there’s nothing to install, and there are no adverts. Build runs from King down to Ace in one suit. A finished run lifts off the table. Any card can go on a card one higher. Stuck? Press Hint, or deal a new card onto every column. Easy is one suit, Normal is two, and Hard and Expert use all four. Your game is saved as you go, so you can stop and carry on later, on your PC, your tablet or your phone. Clear all eight runs, and the cards take a bow. There’s a new deal every day, the same cards for everyone, with a Hall of Fame, a three-minute sprint, and a hundred-level Journey. Play free at 365techies.co.uk. No adverts. No sign-up. Just the cards.

/02 — NO ADVERTS

Why there are no adverts, and never will be

We’re 365 Techies, a family-run computer support company in Bournemouth, looking after people’s computers since 1995. Lots of our customers love a game of cards, and too many of the free ones are wrapped in adverts — pop-ups between games, videos you have to sit through, buttons that are really adverts. So we made our own.

There are no adverts, nothing to buy and nothing to sign up for — just the game. We’re paid for looking after computers, not for your attention, so there’s nothing to sell you here. If your computer ever plays up, that’s what we do: 01202 775566.

/03 — HOW TO PLAY

How to play Spider Solitaire

Two packs — 104 cards — dealt into ten columns.

  1. The aim: make a run from King down to Ace in one suit. A finished run lifts itself off the table — clear all eight to win.
  2. Any card can go on a card one step higher, whatever its suit — a 6 on any 7.
  3. Cards move together only when they run down in order in one suit.
  4. Tap the deck at the top left to deal a new card onto every column. Every column needs a card first.
  5. Any card can go in an empty column — and an empty column is the most useful thing on the table.

Prefer the keyboard? The arrow keys choose a card and Enter plays it; N is a new game, U undo, H hint, space deals from the deck and F full screen.

/04 — ONE SUIT TO FOUR

Four levels, and every deal can be won

  • Easy — one suit, with Undo and Hint. The place to start.
  • Normal — two suits, with Undo and Hint.
  • Hard — all four suits, with no Hint.
  • Expert — all four suits, with no Undo or Hint.

Every deal you’re given is one our solver has already won at that level, checked move by move — four suits included — so if you’re stuck, there is a way through. (That’s the Deals you can always win setting; switch it off for a fresh shuffle that may not come out.)

It’s the classic Spider, the one that came with Windows XP: the same rules, and the same score — 500 to start, a point off for every move, 100 for every finished run — with bigger cards and no adverts.

/05 — EVERY DAY

A daily deal, a Hall of Fame and a 3-minute sprint

  • Today’s deal — the same cards for everyone, at each level. Win it and you can put your initials and town in the Hall of Fame for the fastest win. Every win is replayed move by move on our server before it counts, so the board is fair.
  • The 3-minute sprint — how many cards can you get into suit order in three minutes? 13 for every suit you clear. Send the link to a friend and see if they can beat you.
  • The Journey — a hundred levels along the Jurassic Coast, from the Osmington White Horse to Lyme Regis, each with three stars to win.
  • My scores — wins, best times and your streak, kept in your browser. To carry them to another device, use Keep my scores.

// GOOD QUESTIONS

Frequently asked

Is this Spider Solitaire really free?

Yes. There’s nothing to buy and nothing to sign up for. It’s made by 365 Techies, a family IT firm in Bournemouth, for our customers and anyone else who likes a game.

Are there really no adverts?

None at all: no pop-ups between games, no videos to watch and no buttons that turn out to be adverts. We’re 365 Techies, a family IT firm in Bournemouth — we’re paid for looking after computers, not for showing adverts.

Can I play Spider with one suit?

Yes — that’s Easy, and it’s where most people start. Normal is two suits, and Hard and Expert use all four.

Can every game of Spider be won?

Every deal we give you can. Each one has been won by our solver at that level first, checked move by move, four suits included. If you’d rather have any shuffle at all, switch off Deals you can always win in Settings.

Is it the same as Spider Solitaire on Windows XP?

The same rules — ten columns, two packs, a card dealt onto every column — and the same scoring, with bigger cards and no adverts. The deals are our own.

Do I need to download or install anything?

No. It plays in your web browser — Edge, Chrome, Safari or Firefox — on a PC, laptop, tablet or phone. If you use our free Windows app, 365 PC Manager, it’s in its Games menu too.

Can I undo a move?

Yes, as many as you like, on every level except Expert.

What is the Hall of Fame?

Win Today’s deal and you can put your initials and town on the board for the fastest win that day — only if you choose to. Every win is checked by replaying it on our server, so nobody can cheat their way on.

Will my game be saved?

Yes, as you go, in your web browser, so you can stop and carry on later. Your scores are kept there too.

Fancy a game of Spider?

Free, from one suit to four, with no adverts, on your PC, tablet or phone. Nothing to install and no sign-in.
