What’s the difference between this and your remote support?
Two different things, and we set up both. Remote support is when we securely connect to your computer to fix a problem while you watch. Remote access is when you connect to your own computer — your work PC from home, say — to get on with your day. This page is about the second one.
Is it secure?
Yes. Splashtop Business protects every session with TLS and 256-bit AES encryption, device authentication and two-step login, so only you get in. Crucially, your files never leave the host computer — only an encrypted picture of the screen travels — so nothing sensitive ends up on the device you’re sitting at.
Will it be fast enough for real work?
Yes. It’s smooth and responsive even with large files and design work — most people quickly forget they’re not sat at the machine. Real-world speed depends on the internet connection at both ends, which we’ll check and help you get right.
Can I connect from a phone, tablet or someone else’s laptop?
Yes — you can connect from almost any device (laptop, tablet or phone) to your own Windows computer, using the free Splashtop app. When you log off, nothing is left behind on the device you borrowed.
Does my computer have to be left switched on?
The computer you’re reaching does need to be on, or set to wake up on demand — we’ll configure that for you so it’s ready when you need it, on the lowest sensible power so it isn’t wasting energy.
How much does it cost?
It’s a small, sensible add-on that we set up, secure and look after for you. We’ll quote it alongside your support plan — just ask us and we’ll keep it simple.
