Your new TV, set up properly — and explained without the rush
A smart TV shouldn't need three passwords and a manual just to watch the news. We come to you, connect everything, set up the programmes you actually watch, and show you the remote at your pace. Rated 4.9 on Google.

The problem
When a new TV feels anything but smart
Modern TVs are wonderful once they're set up — and baffling until they are. Straight out of the box there's Wi-Fi to connect, accounts to create, apps to find, and passwords to type in letter by letter with a remote control. BBC iPlayer wants one sign-in. ITVX wants another. Netflix wants a third.
Then, months later, a software update moves everything around, or an app quietly signs itself out — and a TV that worked perfectly on Sunday feels "broken" on Monday. It almost never is. It usually just needs someone patient to put things back and explain what happened.
That's what we do. We're a family-run firm that has looked after homes across Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch and Dorset since 1995, and we're rated 4.9 on Google. No jargon, no rushing, no judgement.
What we do
A patient setup visit, step by step
Setting up a TV usually takes one unhurried home visit — and we always phone with an ETA before we set off, so you're not left waiting in all day. Here's how a typical visit goes:
- We call ahead with an ETA, so you know exactly who is coming and when.
- We connect the TV to your Wi-Fi and check the connection is strong enough for smooth viewing.
- We set up the apps and accounts you'll actually use — BBC iPlayer, ITVX, Channel 4, Netflix, Prime Video, whatever you watch — and nothing you won't.
- We put your favourites front and centre, so the programmes you love are one or two button presses away.
- We make it comfortable to read — subtitles switched on and sized properly if you'd like them, and larger menu text where the TV allows it.
- We show you the remote, without rushing — as many times as you like, until it feels natural.
- We write the simple steps down and leave them beside the TV, so there's something to glance at later.
And where a fix doesn't need a visit at all — a sign-in that's dropped, an app that's wandered off the home screen — we can often sort it remotely or talk you through it calmly on the phone. There's no fixed menu price because every job is different: call us and we'll give you an honest quote.
Honest about kit
Android TV and Google TV are home ground
We're Windows and Android specialists, and it matters here. Android TV and Google TV — the software inside many Sony, Philips and TCL sets — are home ground for us, and Amazon Fire TV sticks are built on Android too, so they're familiar territory.
We'll be straight with you: we're not Apple TV specialists. If your equipment is Apple, tell us when you call and we'll say so honestly rather than muddle through at your expense.
One more honest distinction: this page is about setting up and taming the TV you already own. If what you'd really like is new equipment — a new TV, soundbar or full setup, supplied and installed — that's our separate home cinema and entertainment service, run with our partner Richer Sounds in Bournemouth. Same patient approach, different job; just mention it when you call.
After the visit
When apps sign out or move, we put it right
Smart TVs don't stay set up forever. Apps update, menus rearrange themselves, and every so often something signs itself out. For most people that's an occasional annoyance — for some, it's the moment the TV stops being used at all.
That's where our home IT support plan comes in: £18.25 a month per computer, rolling monthly, cancel anytime (we're not VAT registered, so there's nothing added on top). Plan customers don't wrestle with it or wait for a visiting grandchild — they simply call us, and we put it right, often remotely in minutes. You'll speak to the same familiar faces every time, never a call centre.
Two more things worth knowing. We always phone first before ever connecting remotely — never cold pop-ups — you watch everything happen on your screen, and our access ends when the session ends. And if you live further away, you can set up and pay for the plan on a parent's behalf; it's a simple monthly arrangement, and it means Mum or Dad always has someone patient to call.

Frequently asked
My mum's TV says she's signed out of iPlayer again — is it broken?
Almost certainly not. Streaming apps sign themselves out from time to time, often after a software update, and to many people that looks exactly like a broken TV. We sign everything back in, write down what to do if it happens again, and if she's on our support plan she can simply call us and we'll usually put it right remotely in minutes.
Can you make the TV simpler for my dad to use?
Yes — that's most of the job. We put his favourite apps front and centre, skip anything he'll never use, switch on subtitles if they help and size them so they're easy to read, and go through the remote patiently, as many times as he likes. We also leave simple written steps beside the TV so there's something to glance at later.
How much does smart TV setup help cost?
Every job is a little different, so we don't publish a one-size-fits-all price — call us on 01202 775566 for an honest quote. We'll tell you straight whether it needs a home visit or whether we can sort it more simply over the phone or remotely. We're not VAT registered, so there's no VAT added on top.
Do you help with Apple TV?
We're honest about this one: we're Windows and Android specialists, so Android TV, Google TV and Fire TV are home ground — but Apple TV isn't our specialism. If your equipment is Apple, tell us when you call and we'll say straight away whether we're the right people, rather than muddling through at your expense.
Can you supply and fit a new TV or soundbar as well?
Yes, but that's a separate service — our home cinema and entertainment installs, run in partnership with Richer Sounds in Bournemouth. This page is about setting up and looking after the TV you already own. If you'd like new equipment supplied and installed, mention it when you call and we'll point you the right way.
I live miles away from my parents — can I arrange and pay for this for them?
Of course. You can book the visit for them, and if you'd like ongoing cover you can set up and pay for the monthly support plan on their behalf: £18.25 a month per computer, rolling monthly, cancel anytime. We always phone with an ETA before we arrive, so nobody is surprised by a knock at the door.
Shall we get your TV sorted?
Call us Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm, or send a text and we'll reply. We'll tell you honestly whether it needs a home visit or a quick fix over the phone, and give you a straightforward quote.
