Set up on the device you’ll connect FROM
Your work or home PC already has the Splashtop Streamer on it — we install and configure that for you (including keeping the PC awake). You just need the Splashtop Business app on whatever you’re connecting from.

Connection first
Wired beats Wi-Fi, strong Wi-Fi beats weak — at BOTH ends. If the office PC is on cable and you’re near your router, it’ll feel like sitting at the desk.
The speed toggle
Session feeling treacly on hotel Wi-Fi or 4G? Drop the quality one notch in the toolbar — fluid beats pretty when you’re working.
Own the monitors
Use the multi-monitor button rather than squinting at both screens shrunk onto one — switch to the screen you need, full size.
Leave it ready
Finish the day with the apps you’ll need tomorrow still open. Connect in the morning and you’re mid-flow in seconds — the commute-free commute.
Files: move or reach?
Working on it all day? Just work on it remotely. Need it locally? File transfer. Emailing yourself attachments is officially retired.

Your iPad as a window to your Windows computer
Already carry an iPad or tablet? With Splashtop Business you can connect from it straight to your Windows laptop or desktop — at home or at work — and use the full computer exactly as if you were sitting at it. Your files, your programs, your Windows desktop, on the device you already have with you.
Two tricks make it genuinely comfortable rather than a novelty: pair a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse with the iPad and you get precise, accurate pointer control instead of finger-prodding — proper clicking, right-clicking and text selection on your remote Windows desktop. And pinch to zoom in and out of any part of the screen, which together with the iPad’s accessibility options makes small text and fiddly interfaces easy on the eyes.
It’s ideal for working from home or on the go — the office machine stays put and secure, and you reach it from wherever you are. We’ll set the whole thing up for you: Splashtop on both ends, the keyboard and mouse paired, and a five-minute walkthrough so it feels natural. Pair it with a light Latitude 7000 or our travel accessories and the desk really is optional.

When it won’t behave
My computer shows offline
The PC is off, asleep when it shouldn’t be, or lost its internet. If someone’s at that end: check it’s on and online. Nobody there? Call us — that’s what we’re for.
Can’t sign in
Passwords reset at my.splashtop.com. Two-factor code not arriving? Check spam, or ring us and we’ll sort it while you wait.
Connected but black screen
Give it a few seconds, then move the mouse or press a key — the remote monitor may just be waking. Still black? Toolbar → Ctrl+Alt+Del usually shakes it loose.
It feels laggy
Quality toggle down one notch, close video streaming on your end, get nearer the router. Laggy everywhere, always? Run our free speed test at both ends and send us the numbers.
Typing does odd things
Keyboard shortcuts sometimes land on the wrong machine — use the toolbar’s Ctrl+Alt+Del and on-screen keys for the special stuff, and check Num Lock on both ends for number weirdness.
Anything else
One message and we’re looking at it with you — usually within minutes. It’s literally the business we’re in.

Frequently asked
What’s the difference between this and your SOS support?
Two different jobs: SOS is when WE connect to help you fix something (you download a small app and read us a code). Splashtop Business is YOUR remote access — you connecting to your own home or work PC whenever you like. This guide covers the second one.
Is it safe?
Yes — sessions are fully encrypted (the same TLS and AES-256 grade used in online banking), your account has two-factor authentication, and only devices you’ve signed in on can connect. Add the blank-screen and lock-on-disconnect options and nobody at the office sees a thing.
Does my PC need to stay switched on?
It needs power and internet — a PC that’s fully shut down can’t answer. When we set you up, we configure the machine to stay awake (or wake up) for connections, so this is handled. If a colleague turns it off at the wall, that beats us all.
Can I connect from a Mac to a Windows PC? Phone to PC?
Yes — any direction. Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Android and Chromebook can all run the Business app and connect to your PC. Your desktop simply streams to whatever screen you’re holding.
Will it be fast enough to actually work?
On normal home broadband it feels near-instant — smooth enough for email, documents, accounts packages and browsing all day. On slower connections, one tap of the quality/speed toggle keeps it fluid. Genuinely heavy graphics work is the only thing that prefers you in the room.
Can I print at home from my work PC?
Yes — remote print sends the document from the remote PC to the printer beside you. And file transfer moves the file itself if you’d rather have a copy.
How do I get set up with Splashtop Business?
It’s something we provide and configure as part of supporting you — we install the Streamer on your PC, create your account properly (with two-factor), and make sure it all just works. Ask us and you can be working from anywhere this week.
