// NOT GETTING CALLS?
Time for a website rebuild — without losing your Google rankings
If the phone isn’t ringing, your website is usually the reason — too slow, awkward on phones, invisible on Google, or all three. We rebuild websites for Bournemouth, Poole and Dorset businesses the way we rebuilt our own: diagnosed with real data, rebuilt to measurable standards, and migrated safely so every old link forwards to a new, optimised page.

/01 — DIAGNOSE, DON’T GUESS
Why isn’t the phone ringing? Let’s find out — free
Before anyone sells you a rebuild (including us), get the facts. The checker below runs Google’s own Lighthouse tests on your site — speed, SEO, accessibility and best practices — in about thirty seconds.
Then do the revealing bit: run the competitor who outranks you. If their site scores better, loads faster and reads clearer on a phone, you’ve just found part of the answer. Every check also compares against our own site, measured live — because we’d rather show you our standard than claim it.

/02 — SIGNS IT’S TIME
Seven signs your website is costing you work
Awkward on a phone
Google completed mobile-first indexing — it judges your site by its mobile version, full stop. If it’s clumsy on a phone, that’s the version being ranked.
Slow to load
Google says good page experience — including Core Web Vitals speed metrics — aligns with what its ranking systems seek to reward. The checker above runs those exact tests.
No padlock (HTTPS)
Google confirmed HTTPS as a ranking signal back in 2014 — and worse, visitors now see a ‘Not secure’ warning in their browser. That alone loses enquiries.
Built on an old, unmaintained CMS
Security firm Sucuri’s analysis of hacked sites it cleaned up found roughly four in ten were running an outdated CMS at the time of infection. An unmaintained site is a liability, not just an eyesore.
Invisible on Google
If you’re not on page 1 for the searches your customers actually type, the prettiest site in Dorset won’t ring your phone. Findability is designed in — or it isn’t.
You can’t update it
If changing an opening time means paying someone or waiting a week, the site works against you. Yours should be easy to keep current.
It simply looks dated
Visitors judge credibility in seconds. If the site looks abandoned, people quietly assume the business is too — fair or not.
/03 — THE PART EVERYONE FEARS
The SEO-safe migration: how we rebuild without losing your rankings
The classic redesign disaster is launching a lovely new site with no redirects — or pointing every old page at the homepage. Google explicitly warns that the homepage shortcut “might be treated as a soft 404 error”, which quietly erases those old pages’ visibility. Years of accumulated Google presence, gone at launch.
Our method is the one Google’s own migration guidance describes — and the one we used on our own rebuild:
- Audit every old URL first. Everything Google has indexed gets accounted for — nothing is left to 404.
- Build intent-matched new pages before launch. A redirect only holds its value if the new page answers the same search — so the pages come first, then the map.
- 301-forward every old link to its new optimised page. Google’s documentation: map every old URL to its new equivalent with a permanent redirect, and keep the redirects live for at least a year. A 301 tells Google the new page takes the old one’s place.
- Submit the new sitemap and monitor Google Search Console daily. Google says a medium-sized site takes a few weeks for most pages to move in its index, with temporary fluctuation along the way — so we watch the changeover page by page rather than hoping.
We’re not guessing this works — our own website is the case study. Every URL of our old WordPress site 301-forwards to an intent-matched new page, and we still review the Search Console data daily.
- Every old URL audited & mapped
- Intent-matched pages built first
- 301 redirects — never all-to-homepage
- Redirects kept live 12+ months
- New sitemap into Search Console
- Daily GSC monitoring through the move
- Temporary wobble expected & watched
- Done on our own site — checkably
- Real search phrases, researched first

/04 — BUILT TO BE FOUND
Keyword research & competitor comparison — included
Most rebuilds start with colours. Ours start with what your customers actually type into Google — we research the real search phrases in your market, check who currently wins them, and tell you honestly which are winnable and which aren’t worth chasing.
Then every page of the new site is built to answer a genuine search — so the rebuild isn’t just prettier, it’s findable. There’s no point having a beautiful website if nobody can find it.

/05 — STRAIGHT ANSWERS
The honest timeline nobody else will give you
A rebuild is not a traffic switch you flick. Google’s own guidance says a medium-sized site takes a few weeks for most pages to move in its index, with temporary ranking fluctuation along the way. Independent research by Ahrefs found fewer than 2% of newly published pages reach the top 10 within a year — the average #1 page is around five years old.
So here’s the honest shape of it: weeks for Google to re-index the new site, a few months for impressions to build, and compounding growth after that — which is why the migration is done carefully and measured daily, not launched and hoped for. What the rebuild does immediately: a site that loads fast, works on every phone, looks credible and converts the visitors you already get.

// GOOD QUESTIONS
Frequently asked
Will I lose my Google rankings if I rebuild my website?
Done properly, no — and this is the part most people get wrong. Google’s own documentation says to map every old URL to its new equivalent with a permanent (301) redirect and keep those redirects live for at least a year; Google treats the redirect as a signal that the new page should take the old one’s place in its index. Expect some temporary fluctuation while Google recrawls — its guidance says a medium-sized site takes a few weeks for most pages to move. We plan the redirect map before a single page is built, because that’s exactly how we migrated our own site.
How long until a rebuilt website gets traffic?
Honestly: weeks for Google to re-index, months for growth — and we’d rather tell you that up front. Google says expect temporary ranking fluctuation during a move, and independent research by Ahrefs found fewer than 2% of newly published pages reach Google’s top 10 within a year (the average #1 page is around five years old). A rebuild doesn’t buy instant traffic — it removes the handbrake, and the growth compounds from there. Anyone promising you page 1 in 30 days is pricing in your disappointment.
Can you rebuild my WordPress website?
Yes — happily. Our own website was WordPress before we rebuilt it, so we’ve done this exact migration ourselves: every old URL mapped and 301-forwarded to a new, faster, search-optimised page, with Google Search Console watched daily through the changeover.
Do I have to change my domain or hosting?
No — you keep your domain (changing it mid-rebuild adds months of settling time, so we’d usually advise against it). Hosting-wise, we offer fast managed hosting as part of the service, but the migration method is the same either way.
What does a website rebuild cost?
£2,450 fixed for up to 25 pages, agreed before we start — half up front, half when it goes live. For calibration: independent UK guides put a typical agency-built small-business site at £2,500–£10,000 before hosting, with professional copywriting from about £100 a page on top. A much bigger or more unusual job we’ll quote properly instead of guessing. And you don’t have to rebuild at all to start — most people begin on Care & Search at £125 a month on the site they already have.
Can I see proof you can do this?
Yes, live: run 365techies.co.uk through the checker on this page — that’s our own rebuild, measured by Google’s Lighthouse engine while you watch. We also rebuilt and look after colinclarkbuilders.co.uk. Two real, checkable examples — no mock-ups.
