// FOR VICTRON INSTALLERS

Hand customers branded Victron monitoring — not a stock VRM login

Your customer logs into VRM and sees Victron’s logo, Victron’s fixed layout and every parameter on the screen — behind a Victron login they have to create. You can grant read-only access, but there is no ‘Dealer ID’, no custom colours, and no way to hand over a clean branded view of just the figures that matter. We fix that: a monitoring dashboard in your brand, built on the official VRM API, hosted and supported by us — so you look brilliant and keep the customer relationship. Rated 4.9 on Google.

/01 — THE SHORT ANSWER

White-label Victron monitoring, in one answer

Victron VRM has no white-label mode — the ‘Dealer ID’ feature that once promised custom logos was never shipped, any access you share still opens the stock Victron portal behind a Victron login, and that portal always carries Victron’s branding on a fixed layout. So a white-label Victron monitoring dashboard is something you build on top of VRM: for installers, we design a branded, read-only-safe dashboard under your own name, powered by the official VRM API and then hosted and supported by us.

That means your customer opens a link with your logo, your colours and the handful of figures that actually matter to them — state of charge, solar today, battery health, an alarm banner — instead of a Victron login and a screen they never asked for. Nothing about your VRM account, your other sites or your pricing is exposed. VRM keeps doing the heavy lifting underneath; we simply put your name on the window your customer looks through. The rest of this page sets out exactly why VRM can’t do this itself, what we build instead, and what it costs.

/02 — WHY VRM HAS NO WHITE-LABEL

Why VRM can’t be re-branded on its own

VRM is genuinely excellent at what it is designed for — logging, alarms, remote firmware, Dynamic ESS — and we build on it, not against it. But it was never built to be re-branded, and three hard limits catch every installer who tries:

  • No white-label, and no Dealer ID. The long-promised ‘Dealer ID’ that was meant to add your logo to VRM never actually shipped — Victron staff have confirmed on the Community forum that it is not a live feature. There is no supported way to put your brand on the VRM portal.
  • Native sharing is still the Victron portal. You can invite a customer to a single site as a read-only ‘monitor only’ user, so the data itself is safe enough to share. But they still have to create a Victron account, log in and land on the full Victron-branded dashboard — the same fixed layout, every parameter, no logo of yours and no simplified view. There is no supported way to put your brand, or just the figures that matter, in front of them.
  • The layout is fixed. The main dashboard is not composable — only the Advanced tab can be arranged, and custom widgets there are limited to around six parameters. Share links and iframe embeds are read-only and refresh only at the logging interval (15 minutes by default), and there is no single-screen live view across multiple sites.

For the record: we are an independent service and are listed in Victron Energy’s Recommended Software Integrator Program — though not a Victron dealer, distributor or reseller. Victron and VRM are their trademarks. None of this is a criticism of VRM — it is simply the reason a branded layer has to sit on top.

/03 — WHAT WE BUILD INSTEAD

A dashboard that looks like it came from you

We design, build and host a monitoring dashboard that looks like it came from your company — not ours, and not Victron’s. You get:

  • Your brand, end to end. Your logo, your colours, your typography, and your own web address or subdomain — the customer never sees a Victron or a 365 Techies badge unless you want them to.
  • Only the figures that matter. We choose the KPIs per audience: a homeowner might see state of charge, solar today and a simple ‘all healthy’ light; a commercial client might see loads, generator runtime and alarms. No jargon that has them phoning you at 8pm.
  • Read-only by design. The dashboard pulls data through the official VRM API and shows it — there are no settings to nudge, no controls to fat-finger, nothing your customer can break.
  • Hosted and supported by us. We run the hosting, keep it online, and fix it if VRM changes something. You get a stable link to share and one point of contact — us, quietly, behind your name.

Because it is built on the API rather than screenshotting the portal, it can also do things VRM’s stock UI can’t: combine several sites on one branded screen, add your own thresholds and wording, or drop the same dashboard onto a wall display in your showroom. To see how far that can go, we build the full range on our custom VRM dashboards page.

/04 — SEE ONE RUNNING LIVE

See a real branded dashboard running live

We don’t ask you to take this on trust — we run it on our own kit in public. Our off-grid support van, the 365 Crafter, carries a Cerbo GX on Venus OS, MPPT solar and a lithium bank, and it streams live through the official VRM API onto our website in two completely different dashboard styles from the same real data. One is a clean customer-facing view; the other is a denser technical layout — proof that the branding and the KPIs are ours to shape, not VRM’s.

The same page also shows a fleet demo where several vehicles appear on one branded screen. We label it honestly: only the van is a real, live system — the other tiles are illustrative, so you can see how a multi-customer view would look without us inventing data or borrowing someone else’s. That is the whole demo, live, with nothing hidden.

Go and click around it: see the live custom dashboards. If you can picture your logo where ours sits, that is precisely the service — your brand on top, our build and hosting underneath, and the official VRM API in between.

/05 — READ-ONLY-SAFE ACCESS

Read-only-safe access, and the honest prerequisites

The dashboard connects to VRM the supported way: through the official VRM API, using access tokens rather than handing round master passwords. You control the connection, and you can revoke it at any time — nothing about the design ties you to us.

Two honest prerequisites, stated plainly:

  • There has to be Victron kit reporting to VRM. The dashboard reads whatever the site’s GX device (Cerbo, Ekrano, Venus GX, or a Raspberry Pi running Venus OS) already logs. Non-Victron sensors can be shown too, but only if they reach VRM through the GX device — that is a VRM rule, not ours.
  • We need appropriate VRM access. Usually that is you adding our read-only access token to the sites, or generating one under your own account — whichever keeps you in control. We only ever need read access to display data.

On refresh: a VRM share link or iframe is frozen to the stored logging interval (15 minutes by default) and can’t be re-branded, which is why installers find them so limiting. Live data is different — when a site is online, its GX device streams the latest values roughly every couple of seconds, and the official VRM API, including its live MQTT feed, lets us read that near-real-time data rather than the quarter-hourly database snapshot. So your customer sees figures that actually move, not a fifteen-minute-old freeze. We’ll never claim millisecond telemetry, and it depends on the site being online, but we make it as fresh as the hardware honestly allows.

/06 — YOUR BRAND, YOUR RELATIONSHIP

Your brand, your customers, your recurring relationship

This is designed to be a service you resell, not a one-off. Build the branded dashboard once with us and you can offer it to every customer you install for — each gets their own view under your name, and every time they open it they see your company, not Victron and not a third party.

That does two useful things. It makes you look like the sophisticated installer who hands over a proper monitoring portal, not a VRM login and a shrug. And it keeps you at the centre of the relationship: when the customer wants a change, a new site added, or reassurance that all is well, they come to you — which is exactly where the next service call, upgrade or referral starts. One installer, many customers, one recurring reason for them to stay in touch.

You can price it into your installs, bill it as a monitoring subscription, or simply use it as the thing that wins the quote against the installer down the road. We stay invisible: your customers deal with your brand, and you deal with us. If you also want help specifying the systems behind it, our Victron system builder and off-grid Victron pages are the natural next step.

/07 — WHAT IT COSTS

What a white-label dashboard costs

Pricing is quote-based, because a single branded dashboard for one product line is a very different job from a multi-site reseller portal you’ll roll out to dozens of customers. We don’t publish a number that would be wrong for your case — we scope it and tell you honestly. What moves the price:

  • How many dashboards and sites — one branded view, or a template you re-use across every customer you onboard.
  • How much design — a light re-skin in your colours versus a bespoke layout with custom KPIs, thresholds and wording.
  • Data sources — straight Victron via the GX, or non-Victron inputs and extra logic layered on.
  • Hosting and support level — where it lives, your own domain, and how quickly you need us when something changes.
  • Ongoing changes — a fixed build, or a living dashboard we adjust as your range grows.

We’re a family-run UK firm (Bournemouth) that has been trading since 1995, and we deliver this worldwide as a remote, done-for-you service. Support and response times run to UK office hours, Monday to Friday, 9–5 UK time — we’ll say that up front rather than imply round-the-clock cover. /08 — ON YOUR OWN WEBSITE

Hosted by us, or living on your own website

Every dashboard we build can live in one of two places, and both are perfectly good choices. Route one: we host it on our infrastructure, keep it maintained and supported, and your customers simply get a link — the easiest start, with nothing for you to set up. Route two is the one for installers and operators who want it under their own brand and domain: the portal lives on your own website, at a subdomain such as monitor.yourcompany.co.uk or dash.yourcompany.co.uk, linked straight from your main site navigation. Your customers click ‘Monitoring’ on your site and land on a branded portal at your address — they genuinely never leave your world, and there’s no third-party name anywhere in the journey.

Setting it up asks three small things of you:

  • Create a VRM access token in your own account. A two-minute job — we send a plain-English walkthrough. We recommend creating it under a separate ‘monitor only’ VRM user — VRM genuinely supports per-site monitor-only users — so the token can only ever read data, never change a setting.
  • Add the subdomain in your hosting control panel. One click in cPanel, Site Tools, Plesk or whatever your host provides.
  • Give us FTP or SFTP access scoped to that one folder. The login reaches the new subdomain’s directory and nothing else — we never need, and never ask for, access to the rest of your site.

That arrangement is the safe way to do it. Your token sits in one server-side file that the dashboard reads — it never appears in the page code and is never visible to visitors — and you can revoke the token or the FTP login at any moment, so control stays with you throughout. It’s exactly how we run our own site: the 365 Crafter dashboards on our live demo use this same architecture — a static page, a small relay, and a read-only token in one file on the server.

For an installer, the payoff compounds. The portal is an asset on your hosting and your domain, so long-term ownership stays with you — and as your customer base grows, we keep building on it: new dashboards for new installs, a fleet overview, extra pages, whatever your customers start asking for. The monitoring service you offer becomes something you own, not something you rent. One honest prerequisite: your host needs to run a small server-side relay (plain PHP, which nearly all ordinary shared hosting supports). If yours can’t, no drama — we simply host the portal for you instead, same dashboard and same branding, just on our address rather than yours. Not sure which route fits? Contact us or call +44 1202 775566 and we’ll talk it through.

// GOOD QUESTIONS

Frequently asked

Does Victron VRM have a white-label or Dealer ID option?

No. VRM has no white-label mode, and the ‘Dealer ID’ feature that was meant to add dealer logos and branding was never shipped — Victron staff have confirmed on the Community forum that it isn’t live. The portal always shows Victron’s branding on a fixed layout. A branded dashboard has to be built on top of VRM using the official API, which is the service we provide.

Can customers get a safe read-only view without seeing my whole account?

Yes. Native VRM does offer a read-only ‘monitor only’ invite, but it still drops your customer into the full Victron-branded portal behind a Victron login, showing the whole fixed dashboard rather than the few figures they care about. Our dashboard instead pulls data through the official VRM API and only displays what you choose, in your branding — no controls to touch, and nothing about your account, other customers or pricing on show. Each customer sees their own site, your way, and nothing more.

What do you need from me, and does the customer need Victron kit?

Two things. First, there must be Victron kit reporting to VRM through a GX device (Cerbo, Ekrano, Venus GX or a Pi on Venus OS) — the dashboard reads what that device logs, and non-Victron data only counts if it reaches VRM via the GX. Second, we need appropriate VRM access, normally a read-only API access token you add or generate, so you stay in control.

Is the data real-time?

Near-live. A VRM share link or iframe only shows the stored logging interval — 15 minutes by default — and can’t be re-branded. But when a site is online its GX device streams the latest values every couple of seconds, and we read that near-real-time data through the official VRM API and its live MQTT feed, so customers see figures that actually move rather than a quarter-hour-old snapshot. We won’t promise millisecond telemetry, and it depends on the site being online, but we make it as fresh as the hardware honestly allows.

Can I use my own logo, colours and web address?

Yes. Your logo, colours, typography and your own domain or subdomain — the customer never sees a Victron or 365 Techies badge unless you choose to show one. We can match an existing brand sheet or work from your website. The aim is that it reads unmistakably as your company’s monitoring portal, not a re-skinned third-party tool.

Do I have to give you my customers’ VRM passwords?

No. We use the official VRM API with access tokens rather than shared logins, so no master passwords change hands. You add or generate the token, grant read access, and revoke it whenever you like. The connection is yours; we simply use it to display data on the dashboard we build and host for you.

Can I resell this to my customers under my own name?

Absolutely — it’s built for it. Set the branded template up once and offer it to every customer you install for, each with their own view under your name. Price it into installs, bill it as a monitoring subscription, or use it to win quotes. We stay invisible behind your brand, so you own the relationship and the recurring reasons customers come back to you.

How do I get started and what will it cost?

Tell us what you install and who your customers are, and we’ll scope a clear, quote-based price — there are no fixed numbers because a single dashboard and a full reseller portal are different jobs. We’re UK-based (Bournemouth, trading since 1995) and deliver worldwide by remote, with support to UK office hours, Monday–Friday 9–5 UK time. Get a quote or call +44 1202 775566.

What if Victron ships white-label later?

Then great — use it. But your branded dashboard would still do more than a re-skinned portal: your chosen KPIs, multiple sites on one screen, your own thresholds and wording, wall displays, and non-Victron data via the GX. Building on the official API isn’t a workaround waiting to be replaced — it’s a deliberately richer layer that happens to also solve the branding VRM never did.

Can the white-label portal run on our own website rather than yours?

Yes — and for many installers it’s the best version of white-label. We build the portal on a subdomain of your own site, such as monitor.yourcompany.co.uk, and you do three small things: create a VRM access token (ideally under a monitor-only VRM user, so it can only ever read data), add the subdomain in your hosting control panel, and give us FTP or SFTP access scoped to just that folder. Your token sits in one server-side file — it never appears in the page code and is never visible to visitors — and you can revoke the token or the login at any time.

The only requirement is hosting that can run a small PHP relay, which nearly all ordinary shared hosting supports. If yours can’t, we simply host the dashboard for you instead.
