Frequently asked
Windows 11 version 24H2 stops getting updates on 13 October 2026. Do I need to do anything?
Usually not. Microsoft is moving Home and Pro PCs on 24H2 to a newer version of Windows 11 automatically. To check yours, open Settings, then System, then About: the Version line says 24H2, 25H2 or later. If it still says 24H2, open Settings, then Windows Update, and click Check for updates. If the update is not offered, Microsoft may be holding it back on your PC while it fixes a compatibility problem (a “safeguard hold”) — do not force it, it arrives once fixed. Work computers managed by an IT department follow their own schedule. If an update keeps failing, we can look at it remotely.
Should I upgrade to Windows 11?
If your PC is compatible, Windows 11 is a sensible, supported upgrade. We will check compatibility and advise honestly whether it is worth it for your machine.
Will I lose my files upgrading to Windows 11?
No — we back up your data first and make sure everything transfers safely before and after the upgrade.

Windows 10 has ended — what should I do?
Microsoft ended support for Windows 10 in October 2025 (a paid consumer Extended Security Updates option runs for a further year). If your PC supports Windows 11 we’ll upgrade it cleanly with your files intact; if not, we’ll advise honestly on a sensible replacement. Try our repair or replace advisor.
