No — protecting your data is the first thing we do. Before anything is wiped we copy your photos, documents, downloads and other important files to a separate drive and check the backup is complete. What's the difference between a reinstall and just repairing my computer?
A repair fixes a specific fault — a failed hard drive, a broken screen, a dead power supply. A Windows reinstall and refresh is for a machine that works but has become slow, cluttered or unreliable through software build-up rather than a hardware fault. How long does a Windows reinstall take and will I be without my PC?
Most refreshes are done within a day or two once we have the machine, depending on how much data needs backing up and restoring. Many jobs can be handled remotely via Splashtop with no need to drop anything off, and across Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch and Dorset we can collect and return locally. We'll give you a realistic timescale before we start.
Should I reinstall Windows or just buy a new computer?
It depends on the machine. A reinstall can give a tired but healthy PC years more life and is far cheaper than replacing it.
